In Liberia, over 40% of women face gender-based violence, impacting their freedom and growth. WOPA's advocacy aims to drastically reduce these numbers, fostering a safe, equal society.

Gender-based violence (GBV) remains a pervasive issue in many societies, including Liberia, where cultural, economic, and systemic barriers contribute to its prevalence. This violence significantly impacts women and girls, restricting their access to education, employment, and participation in public life. The fear and trauma associated with GBV also have profound effects on their physical and mental health.

Our Intervention

WOPA’s Gender-Based Violence Advocacy program focuses on raising awareness, educating communities about the rights of women and girls, and advocating for stronger legal protections. The program includes workshops, support services for survivors, and campaigns aimed at changing societal norms that perpetuate violence.

What we hope to change

Successfully implementing these solutions leads to safer communities where women and girls can pursue opportunities without fear of violence. It fosters an environment of respect and equality, enhancing the target beneficiaries’ overall well-being and socioeconomic status

Our sustainability efforts

Sustainability is ensured through continuous community engagement, partnerships with local and international organizations, and integration of GBV education into schools and public institutions. Empowering survivors and involving men and boys in advocacy are crucial to creating long-lasting change.
